In 2014, LAGO – a leading Italian company in the field of interior design – presented its philosophy, ‘LAGO INTERIOR LIFE’, in an eleven-point manifesto: designing the profound relationship between living spaces and people’s wellness, creating environments that can enter into resonance with the people who live in them and making design an instrument of social change.
This philosophy has taken concrete form in the design of residences as well as shops, offices, museums, cafés, gelato shops, restaurants and hotels, all marked by a home-like feeling and part of the LAGO INTERIOR LIFE NETWORK, a network of places and people in which LAGO design improves experience. Thanks to this strategy, the company has enjoyed double-digit growth, both nationally and internationally, where it is still actively expanding. In a year and a half, LAGO has completed major interior design projects in Italy and abroad, like the Innovation Centre, administrative offices and a few branches of the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo in Turin, the Calzedonia headquarters in Moscow, the Besharat Gallery’s artists’ residences in Barbizon, France and the Dolcezza pastry shop in Bonhill, London.
Now, the innovative Italian brand has been selected by The Dream Lodge Group, one of the UK’s leading luxury park operators, to design and furnish the group’s most luxurious lodge, a preview of which will be presented at Grand Designs Live in London from 30 April to 8 May.
The interior design of the LAGO lodge was inspired by the Mediterranean and is based on two of the LAGO design chromosomes: ‘lightness’ and ‘timelessness’. 100 square metres designed to enter into resonance with the people who live in them, with furniture mounted on the wall or suspended on glass, and exceptionally fine materials like Wildwood.
The lodge is the fruit of the joint vision of LAGO and the director of the Group, Simon Moir, who was influenced by his travels on the Italian Riviera and the beauty of the coast, thus choosing an Italian design leader as a partner.
Explaining the thought process behind the creation of the new lodge, Daniele Lago, LAGO CEO & Head of Design comments ‘We believe that spaces should enter into empathy with the people who live in them. That’s why we designed this space with The Dream Lodge Group focusing on three fundamental dimensions of human existence: Head, Heart and Courage. The Head is in the functionality of the spaces and in the quality of the materials used. The Heart is in the warmth and tactile experience offered by Wildwood, an old wood full of soul. Courage is in the innovative suspension of all of our furniture. The atmosphere is sophisticated, timeless, connected to the past but looking to the future’.
Of the partnership, Dream Lodge Group’s Simon Moir explains ‘The LAGO design team has captured perfectly the new level of luxury that The Dream Lodge Group is committed to delivering. Their interiors are elegant, intelligent, sophisticated and refined and complement the lodge’s overall design which is defined by natural wood and pale pastel shades. To be able to partner with such a renowned brand has been a delight for the team and means we have already experienced remarkably strong pre-sales’.
The LAGO lodge comprises an open space area for the kitchen and living room, two large bedrooms with bath, a small bedroom, a laundry room and a spacious, Mediterranean-inspired terrace.
The suspended 36e8 island kitchen, with a Wildwood counter and Weightless elements that come down from the ceiling, puts the kitchen and living room in communication and is completed by a suspended 36e8 column that integrates the appliances and by a tactile Air Wildwood table. In the living room, we find another icon of LAGO design, the Air sofa, suspended on invisible sheets of glass.
The bedrooms are furnished with Air and Air Wildwood beds, the N.O.W. wardrobe – one of LAGO’s best selling designs – and the innovative Et Voilà fabric wardrobe. While the bathrooms feature the Depth double washbasin in Wildwood and the Cellule washbasin. Last but not least, the spacious terrace is furnished with an Air Wildwood table and benches and Air sofas in neutral hues.
With this project, LAGO again confirms its capacity for working with prestigious companies as planning partners as well as in terms of communication, thus contributing to the development of a strategic vision of the future of the spaces we live in. This aptitude for design thinking is supported by a communication driver with more than 700,000 Facebook connections and more than one million annual visitors at lago.it.
The lodge will be available for rent or purchase exclusively in the five-star holiday parks of The Dream Lodge Group, located throughout the United Kingdom, including the new locations launched this summer: Fornham Park in Suffolk and The Sanctuary in Berkshire.
